Welcome to Best Smartphone Games’: 150 Android Games with RPG-elements that can be played one handed
ATTENTION:
We’ve disabled the site’s sidebar for this post in order to make the list more readable. However, on tall aspect ratios (like mobile phones in portrait mode) the names of the games are going to be hard to read. I recommend flipping the phone in landscape mode. Yes, we are aware of the irony of the situation when it comes to phones in portrait mode.
Also, some games are not traditional RPG’s but fall under the Role Playing category, at least as far as google considers it. If you find Masha & Bear coloring? Wellllll, yeah. Enjoy.
Premium Android RPG games that can be played in Portrait Mode, without In-App Purchases or Ads!
The list is dominated by games from the DRAGON QUEST series, by Square Enix, and they occupy both the highest and the lowest rated entries in the premium games list with no ads or in-app purchases! A great game to mention and feature here is Andor’s Trail – an open source RPG that runs on practically any android device. And it utterly, completely FREE.
List of FREE Android RPG games that can be played in Portrait Mode with In-App Purchases but without Ads!
Up next we have the FREE Android games with RPG elements – that can be played one handed, available for FREE with In-App Purchases. No ads to be seen in sight for these entries.
A great mention here is Cardinal Quest 2, by Ido Yehieli! A sequel to an even greater roguelike that sadly didn’t make the list as it’s landscape only. Still, CQ2 is one of the roguelikes that I played the most on my phone, second to that one time that I installed Adom in DOSBox. I can wholeheartedly recommend you give it a try.

We missed Elder Scroll Blades the first time around! Updating the article to add it here too. It’s FREE, with IAP’s, no ADS! And it’s gorgeous. If it’s your cup of tea – you can find it here.

Don’t spend a DIME, spend your TIME. Or nerves. Watch the same ad over and over again and get that extra life, +1 potion or coin bonus that you need. We’re not judging, we’re just providing. The only problem is, we only have two entries for this chapter. Not a lot of people provide a free game with advertising and no IAP’s.
